Hsien shared this little questionairre that she found in the Supernanny magazine. Here are my responses:
The last time my child(ren)…
…made me laugh?
My 14-month old today when I said, “Are you really poopy? I just changed you.” And he started laughing at me.
…made me proud?
When they figured out how to share amongst themselves (after I threatened them with just taking the toy away!)
…had a tantrum?
Anytime you tell my 2yr old that it’s nap/bedtime. “I not sweepy!!!”
…said they loved you?
Quite often, actually, right after I give into whatever it is they want at that moment. (”I love you mom! You’re the best mom EVER!”) And even sometimes just out of the blue.
…learned something new?
Samantha has figured out how to speak “Ubby Dubby” today and was trying it out all the way home from the grocery store. (Hey there, all you Zoomers!)
…embarassed you?
I do that plenty on my own. Walking into the men’s bathroom at Tim Horton’s last week, then not being able to see the WALL of baked goods behind the cashier that I was standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF. Who needs kids to embarrass me?
…made you cry?
Gosh. Probably sometime when they were fighting non-stop and I’d had enough. Apparently, it’s been long enough that I’ve forgotten. Or I’ve gone with that “repressed memory” thing to block it out and preserve my psyche. That explains the facial tick.
…made you feel guilty?
When my daughter asked for something, and I answered, “I don’t know, we’ll see.” She responded with, “I know what that means. It means ‘no’.” And I realize that I use that phrase, and others like it, just to get them to leave me alone for a minute, though I have no intention of letting them have/do whatever it is. Ugh.
