Tomatoes in October October 8, 2006
So, you think you want to start a garden, but you just don’t want to do all the work. I mean, planting is one thing, but watering and weeding and all that mess? Who has time for that?
Well then, I have the veggie for you. Cherry tomatoes are awesome for those of us who are lazy in the whole, “Let’s take care of the yard” arena. Stick the plants in the ground, plant them near something that they can climb (or charm your way into getting someone you live with to do it), and ignore them. You’ll have more tomatoes than you know what to do with!
Okay, so it helps if you remember to plant them in a generally sunny spot, and also if it conveniently rains a few times since your hose doesn’t actually reach up to where your garden is inconveniently located and you’re tired of hauling little plastic buckets up the hill. I’m not positive, but I think those things will help. Oh, and a mild Midwestern climate.
So, just do those few simple things, and you’re assured of growing tomatoes well into October.
“Charm?” So that’s what the kids are calling it these days.
Yes, I said “charm”. Aren’t I charming? /bats eyelashes.
