No, we don’t live in the boonies. Yes, we are probably one of the last cable holdouts. No major reasons, just cheaper, and when would we find the time to watch anything anyway? Hmmm…I started this with a point…
Ah, yes, we have 6 channels. Guess how many of them were showing the President’s speech tonight? 5. Yes, fully (Baldman?, thanks) eighty-(mumble)% of the available channels were broadcasting the speech. What did I think of it all?
Well, NBC definitely had the prettiest presentation, but PBS was the simplest with only the logo in the corner. No need for fancy titles or flowing flags, just a logo and the speech.
Ohhh….you wanted to know what I thought of the speech? Yeah, I knew you really didn’t.
I have about 100 , YES 100!, channels…..and I watch all of them. I think I was watching Beauty and the Geek when the President was on. I do watch the news too so I can catch all the important bits of his speech then. Anyway, to get to the point, I Love cable. I can’t live without it. It really is very affordable at about 40 dollars a month and it is about the only thing I splurge on. SO THERE! ; )
I am just impressed you actually watched the speech. I wait for bloggers to boil it down to bullet points for me so I don’t have so sit through it.
Doug: First, not at all judging anyone who has cable! I was just pointing out how ridiculous it is that 5 of the 6 free channels were covering the exact same thing. And I do think that it’s funny that, of all the 100 channels, you mentioned one show that’s on a free channel, b/c we get Beauty and the Geek.
Sheila: Sorry if I misrepresented myself as an active citizen. I really probably did pay more attention to the different stations’ presentations of the speech than the speech itself! And blogged during it all, of course.
I didn’t watch the speech. I think I was watching something else on another channel. I get… millions or something channels. I watch like 3. Can I just buy the 3 I watch? No. Need to buy them all. Why? Packaging. It’s cheaper to get 10 options with Caller-Id. Don’t want Caller Id? Tough luck. I think I’ve blogged this before…
